The Devil's Confession

The Devil's Confession

I enter the mind through eye and ear.
Thoughts are consumed until they are mine.
Hate is just one element of fear.
Vision is clouded and no longer clear.
Believing you can see yet truly blind.
Give your tormentor the time of your day.
Surely I will go, if asked to leave,
For it is you who allows me to stay.
Off of your knees this is no time To Pray.
I live to deceive and prey on the naive.
Something you can touch, hear or see?
Abstractly I control your fate.
You hear me, yet you choose not to fear me.
Locked in a prison while holding the key.
No guards in site, a clear path to a gate.
Familiarity over freedom at this juncture.
Conformed and complacent achieve mediocrity.
A sandy foundation supports a weak structure.
The mind is vulnerable and easy to puncture,
A sleeping soldier guarding A great city.
